and then it happened...

when we last spoke i was getting ready to watch Pride and Prejudice and eat muffins to my hearts content.
strangely, i wasn't in the mood for muffins. 'WHat?!' you say? "are you sick?!" you say?
why yes. yes i was.
i felt terrible through the night, woke up and couldn't stand with out throwing up or running to the bathroom.
and emory had it too. in the form of explosive diapers. *cloth diapers*.
"good thing Joel didn't go out of town!" you say?
yes it is a good thing, because he has severe chest pain and could not move or breathe with out agony.
he went over to the ER because the pain was moderate on Thursday, very painful on Friday and finally outrageous saturday morning.
"good thing you have great friends who offered to come pick up Leland for you!" you say?
YES! we DO have great friends, Nessa and Steve stopped to make sure we were okay, lots of offers of help and Lynsi and Rich actually came to get Leland to take him back to their house for a play date!! i'm really pretty bad at accepting help but i was about to loose it so i said sure; unfortunately about 10 minutes down the road he threw up in their car. I felt SO bad!!! back he came.

let me tell you, it's very challenging to change an explosive diaper, clothing, sheets etc in the crib all in less than 1 min. that was the approximate time i had before i got sick after standing.
Happy Memorial Day!!
Joel spent about 3 hours at the ER, they told him it was probably a bruised rib and gave him a big shot in the butt for pain. Told him it wouldn't make him drowsy or loopy, but help the inflammation.
they either gave him the wrong shot or didn't know what they were talking about because he came home and slept in a coma like state until almost **9 pm**.
nice.

luckily my mother made it over to the house to help me by about 1:30pm.
and blessing of all blessings, she brought disposable diapers. **i love you mom!!!** you can't only take so much nasty/sick laundry! she helped keep leland occupied (he felt great after his incident and didn't think he was sick), helped change Emory so i didn't have to get up as much, did like 6 loads laundry, changed Emory's bedding like 4 times, was an all around angel.
about 6 she was going to leave and started throwing up again so she stayed.
again, I LOVE YOU MOM!
finally by about 10 pm i felt less terrible, and only had a splitting headache, sore body and burning eyes.
Sunday morning Joel forced himself up to church to run sound, Leland went with Granny and Gramps and Emory and i lounged about, recovering.
Then Joel came home and took us to drive the River Road. the perfect activity considering his inability to move much and our general icky-ness. it was super relaxing and beautiful. we listened to classical music and watched the elegant sailboats and the groups of people who form little huddles with their speed boats so they can party together(cracks me up).

We picked Leland up and took him for icecream at Dairy Haven (best ever, deserves it's own post) and then came home where Joel willingly watched Pride and Prejudice with me (yes, again). It was pretty great! He laughed at the right parts, smiled at the right parts, looked mildly concerned at times... and then has quoted Mr. Darcy on more than one occasion since.
love!

Monday was my littlest sister's 17th birthday- GASP!
it's just not okay that she's that old, not okay at all. i was practically married at 17! (again, deserves its own post)
we all felt much better so we headed over to my parents for lunch, cake and presents and had a lovely time.

since then we've had a jovial small group, i've been doing laundry like crazy, looking for things to sell, praying about ways to make money from home, rejoicing because Emory's first tooth finally broke through and freaking out as i realize her birthday (and party) are next weekend. AH!
Generally we make more of an effort to focus on the point of memorial day, but this year the only patriotic activity we were able to manage was explaining to Leland why there were so many 'merican' flags and why we celebrate Memorial day. He loves American flags and really sat and mulled over the information that we shared.
So thankful for freedom and the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country and for the families who are left behind- sometimes for the rest of this life.
Thank you military families!!! Thank you Lord!

and now, random pictures from the weekend because i'm too lazy to organize them or scatter them throughout.

What an awful experience! The stomach flu is awful, but it's even more awful when you are Mom and everyone in the house is sick too - I'm SO sorry!!

You are so good.
You didn't lose your mind, and were a great momma/wife/sister/daughter the whole weekend.
check you out!
:)
Sorry that Cash got sick on Saturday, or we would've been on our way to help that evening. :(

I am so jealous that Joel watched Pride and Prejudice with you. After watching "becoming Jane" with me, I'm pretty sure Owen will never watch another period piece with me again. HAHA!

What a beautiful family! I admire you and doing cloth diapers. My littlest woke from her nap yesterday in the pack 'n play where she had smeared the diaper contents on the mesh. What we do as mother's will earn us a seat of glory in the hereafter, right? Glad you ended Sunday in such a relaxing way.

I just got a check for $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can earn filling out paid surveys at home...

So I show them a video of myself actually getting paid $500 for paid surveys to set the record straight once and for all.
