i finally realized if i just planned the day the night before it would make things *easier because there would be less chaos and more structure. so here are a few of the things we've done lately...
rainbow in a jar:
learning about diffusion, blending, currents, and color.
the quick version- you drop food coloring into a large glass container and observe and change the variables.
we played Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, K. 467 while we watched and as goofy as it sounds, it was perfect!
Leland thought it looked like jellyfish and at the end of each pitcher he wanted to squirt tons of the purple in like an "angry squid".
we've been working on reciting 1 Corinthians 13.
Oh man! they are so funny. if kids can memorize theme songs to cartoons they can memorize scripture.
They've only done the first verse but they've got it strong:O)
when i say they, i do lessons with Leland, Lucy and Emory.
Leland verbally goes along, Lucy silently takes it in, and Emory dances and listens.
Lucy cracks me up because she's so quiet but reeeeally smart and i know she's getting it.
We're working on our vowel sounds and then reading books and identifying the letter's we are studying.
we've done leaf matching, about me recitations, and normal everyday things.
i've lost my patience more than once and turned on Sid the Science kid for my sanity, but i'm really thankful for the opportunity to work with my kids. I love being the one watching that light go off in their eyes and the understand or put things together.

i am so ready for Joel's arm to heal. i cut the grass again yesterday. while babies were napping, and then the second half while my 2 were in the baby gate octagon. miiiiiiiiiiiiisery. that's all i will say.
i am so blessed not to be in a situation were my family's survival depended on my hard labor or physical work. because i would not last long.
we got to go out with some of our oldest, dearest friends last night. we grabbed a bite to eat and then went to Border's and talked and talked and talked. it was GREAT!
sweet sweet conversation for the soul, when you can say what's on your heart and the other person totally gets it.
i love you bloggy friends and have those moments with you too.... but it's so nice to have it in person too!

On the way to meet them i was lamenting in my head that i can't get my house decorated/painted/under control.
i'll have a million ideas and none of them will come to fruition. or i just can't decided.
I wish i were just classy and simple like christin! Her house looks finished and great.
then while we were talking she mentioned a design problem/situation and said i was thinking - elise is going to have to come over and help me figure out what to do!
so funny that we always think the other person has it all together, or has the best ideas or whatever.
we are silly.

How lucky your sweet kids are to have you home teaching them and how blessed you are to have the patience to do so :) Looking forward to your name list.

When you are working on letters, you can put shaving creme on the table and let them trace the letters in it, seriously fun for everyone!
