We have had some amazingly nice weather considering it's the beginning of April.
Friday we got to take advantage of it, and of the awesome *free* STL Zoo and beautiful Forest Park.
Zoo traffic is so intense that we left our house at 8am and there were already swarms of people.
Jaime had the day off so we got to meet them early and Jax & Leland got in some quality boy time.
The hippos are one of their favorites and they were in rare form! they all congregated with their faces under the water pushed up against the glass (usually it's more of the tushy pushed up against the glass!).
Then we met Miss Jessica, Miss Brooklyn & Miss Letty on the Art Museum hill for a windy picnic.
The kids were so incredibly funny and sweet. (although Emory was super tired and crabby)
They had a great time just goofing off, running up the hill and then rolling down, flying the kite and wrestling around.
It was so windy that the kite pulled right out of Brooklynn's hand at one point and soared away into the water.... i had to do some Indiana Jones maneuvering to fish it out and almost plunged in head first!
i can't tell you how good for my soul it was to get out of the house and into the beautiful world with some beautiful friends for a day. it was perfect.

i think this may be one of my most favorite blog posts ever. looking at it makes me happy and calm. it was a wonderful wonderful day.
What a beautiful day! I so wanted to go to the zoo Friday with my kiddos too!
We enjoyed the hippo exhibit too. If the animals and people all align just right you can score some great photos.

I soooo miss Forest Park! I can't wait to take Addie to the zoo - looks like a lot of fun! It can help much to get out of the house and spend time with friends.
